Waiting is hard. Especially when you’re waiting for something you REALLY want. Like your birthday (mine is just under two weeks away) or maybe for some it’s graduation. Or the start of summer vacation- or even just winter ENDING! Or maybe you’re waiting for your love life to take flight and find that one special someone you’ll spend the rest of your life with. Whatever you might be waiting for, we can all admit it’s HARD to wait. We live in a world of instant gratification, where if we can’t get it within 5 minuets, then it’s not worth the wait. That’s sad. You miss out on so much if you’re just jumping from one thing to the next because you’re too impatient to wait for the thing you really want. It’s so rewarding to wait, and there’s that whole cliche saying “good things come to those who wait” and you’re probably reading this and thinking ‘ya, whatever, I’ve heard this a bazillion times, yada yada yada.’ And sure, it’s seems like a nice, sweet little ice-cream topping to say to someone that is waiting. It makes them feel better for 5 minuets, gives them hope that their waiting isn’t in vain, but then those 5 minuets are up, the sweet little saying has lost its sweetness and you’re STILL waiting. Great. Now what?

Well maybe God is trying to tell you to stop living in future and live in the NOW. Enjoy where you are in life and stop wishing you were somewhere else, because, well frankly, you’re not there! So stop missing out on all the good things God might be trying to show you NOW because you’re too busy waiting for the NEXT thing to happen. There’s a lot in my life that I’m still waiting to happen. I’m still waiting on a job for my super fancy (super expensive) Ministry degree that I spent 4.5 years obtaining. I’m still waiting for Prince Charming to come into my life. I’m still waiting for this stupid snow to melt in Minnesota and for freakin SPRING to start! (FOR REAL!) But me just wishing for them to happen ISN’T going to make them happen any faster. So why not take time to enjoy where I am and what God has in store for me in this place in life instead of throwing it back in His face saying I want something “better” than the BEST He already has for me! like duh! Just make the most of where you are RIGHT now! You will eventually get the things you’re waiting for, and if you don’t, well, then you’ll probably end up with something better anyways!

Seek the Lord, you WILL find FULFILLMENT in ALL your wants in HIM!!!! This I have found to be true!

The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. – Psalm 34:10 (NIV)

Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. -Psalm 37:4 (ESV)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23

May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. –Colossians 1:11-12
